Hair Growth Cycle


  • ANAGEN
    • This is the first stage of the cycle where new hair is produced. The perfect time in the hair growth cycle to wax.
  • CATAGEN
    • The second stage in the hair growth cycle. In this stage, the hair shaft grows upward and detaches itself from the bulb.
  • TELOGEN
    • This is the final stage, the "resting"stage. The hair neither developing nor growing. It cannot be treated during this stage as it usually is not visible about the skin surface.

Waxing Pre Care Instructions


  • Exfoliating the skin, especially on the body can help achieve an effective wax. This reduces ingrown hairs, leaves the skin smooth and removes unwanted dead skin cells.
  • It is important to avoid the sun for three days before or after a waxing session.
  • The best time to wax is the first two weeks after your menstruations.
  • Before bikini and Brazilian waxing: the area should be kept clean and exfoliation is required to prevent infections and skin irritation.
  • Refrain from applying any creams, oils or self-tanners immediately prior to a waxing session.
  • If you are coming in for a body treatment, wear loose clothing to your appointment. Putting on tight or non-breathable clothing after freshly waxed skin can cause irritation and delay the healing process.
  • Hair should be at least ½ of an inch long (about two weeks of hair growth) before waxing.

Waxing Post Care Instructions


  • It is normal to experience redness, tenderness, especially for first time waxing and for those with coarser hair or sensitive skin.
  • Do not apply any creams other than recommended by Vi'TalDerm MD: Heavier creams can cause clogged congested pores.
  • Avoid applying highly fragranced products to the waxed area. This includes, perfume, scented body lotions, anti-perspirants, cosmetics, or feminine hygiene sprays. Only use recommended professional products, recommended to you by Vi'TalDerm MD.
  • Any pinking of the skin should disappear within 6 to 8 hours after the waxing treatment. Slight pinking is normal, and indicates that the hair was removed from the root, rather than superficially broken off.
  • Symptoms should dissipate within 24 to 48 hours after waxing
  • After three days start using the total resurfacing masques three times a week to prevent skin cells debris buildup, which can trap surface hair and cause follicular bumps and ingrown hair.
  • Do not shave in between waxing treatments.
  • Refrain from the following immediately after waxing and until redness and irritations subside:
    • Swimming pools, saunas, Jacuzzis, steam rooms, Tanning beds, spray tans, Avoid sun exposure, Excessive work outs that can cause you to sweat, Excessive heat in treated waxed area, Massage or Body treatments to the treated waxed area.
